  I qualified as a Physical Education and Maths teacher in 1981 and have taught in Doncaster, Ealing, Basildon, Stanford-le-Hope, Perth (Australia), Ilford, Perth (again) and back to St. Clere's in Stanford-le-Hope. I am currently teaching Maths at St. Clere's but take matches and practices in PE and have combined this with my SSCo work.

  I have been an SSCo since 2004, and enjoy it immensely: working with the younger children, watching them develop and grow, seeing many of them move up to St. Clere's is always good. Working and helping staff become more confident also has its rewards. I hope I can make be a positive influence on both children and staff, and increase the profile of Physical Education.

  I attended St. Francis Xavier university in Nova Scotia, Canada for six years and received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics pre-education degree (1999-2003) followed by an Education degree with a physical education specialism (2003-2005).  i finished my OTT training and received my QTS certification for England in March 2009 and am now in my NQT year.

  My sports background is in American football, basketball and athletics.  I was scouted to play american football at my university and did for three years.

  I am a level two coach in Canada for american football but have also coached basketball for numerous years at university and at home in Niagara Falls, Canada.

  Before moving to England I worked as a kinesiologist and personal trainer at a major Canadian health and fitness corporation for two years.

  I moved to England in January 2008 and am working at Beacon Hill School in South Ockendon as the head of physical education.

  I look forward to working with Beacon Hill and Treetops school as their SSCO this year and aim to make their PE the best it can be.
