St Cleres played host to the year 5/6 girls football competition yesterday. 9 schools from the partnership participated. They were split into 2 pools, all teams within each pool playing each other. The winners and runners up from both pools progressing through to the finals saw Warren play Gateway in semi final 1, and Woodside play Quarry Hill in semi final 2. Both matches were extremely tense and exciting with Warren scoring a goal in semi final 1 in the last 30 seconds. Semi final 2 was 0-0 at the end of the 7 minutes so went to penalties, where Woodside finished on top.
The final was again an exciting match, with Woodside scoring a late goal to beat Warren 1-0. Woodside will now go through to represent Thurrock in the Essex School games in November.
Congratulations to everyone who took part!
