Congratulations to Little Thurrock Primary School for their efforts today!
School Report: On Wednesday the 18th of March, 24 year 5 and 6, girls and boys from Little Thurrock Primary School visited The Brentwood Centre to compete in the Essex Sports Hall Athletics Final. On the way there lots of us got lost, but eventually everyone arrived. We all had mixed feelings some of us were feeling sick, we were all nervous. Some people even had butterflies in their tummies.
We were all shocked to see how big the hall was and we were amazed that children from China could actually see us on a big screen and we could see them. There also seemed to be lots of other children, and our ears were bombarded with loud music.
Each school had to wear coloured bibs, and we were introduced to all the other schools, they even had our school logo.
There were all sorts of events, like relays, either just running, with a baton and turning on a board, or going over and under obstacles, as well as these we had field events, speed bounce; all types of jumps; throwing a soft javelin and ball push. When it was our turn, we felt sick and really frightened, but students from the Gateway Academy helped by demonstrating the activities.
During the morning, we had the opportunity to meet a real Great Britain athlete, Sarah Claxton, who has actually been to an Olympic Games, she talked to us and signed autographs.
At the end of the competition, we sat whilst the final scores were given out. We came 9th and our Chinese partners came 2nd.
We all had a great time and would love to do it again, perhaps at secondary school. Lilly Adcock & Georgia Calvert (Little Thurrock Primary School)

Read articleA sunny and warm Tuesday afternoon saw William Edwards host the Thurrock SSP year 6 mixed rounders. Unfortunately we had a very poor showing from Thurrock schools with only 4 teams taking part.
